During Term 1 a student in Rm12 brought to class two swan plants. We had many caterpillars and had to give some of them away as they were eating all the leaves. Within a week a fat caterpillar decided to change into chrysalis. We were very privileged to watch this process. For quite a while the caterpillar hung in a 'J' form then started to wriggle into a green chrysalis that looked very much like a sleeping bag. It was fascinating to find that the caterpillars skin was left behind. By the time the Term had ended we had two chrysalis's waiting to change into butterflies. During the first week of the holidays I came to school to feed the fish and both butterflies had hatched and were waiting at the window to fly away.
